Privacy Policy – Tunnelwise

Effective date: 08/04/2025

Tunnelwise was designed with privacy and security at its core. This Privacy Policy explains what data is (and is not) collected when you use Tunnelwise, and how any necessary data is handled.

1. No traffic inspection

Tunnelwise does not monitor, store, log, or intercept any HTTP requests, responses, headers, bodies, payloads, or any other tunnel traffic.

Your tunneled content remains entirely between your local system and its destination. Tunnelwise acts only as a transport layer and has zero visibility into the data you transmit.

2. Data we don't collect

We do not collect:

  • Tunnel traffic (requests or responses)
  • IP addresses of your users or devices connecting through a tunnel
  • Hostnames, URLs, headers, query parameters, or payload contents
  • Files, cookies, tokens, credentials, or session information

3. What we do collect

Tunnelwise collects minimal, non-identifiable usage statistics to help monitor service reliability and guide product improvements. This includes:

  • Aggregate counts of active tunnels, not linked to any user identity
  • Timestamps (e.g., tunnel created / tunnel deleted)
  • App version used
  • Operating system version (for debugging only)
  • Anonymized crash or error reports (for debugging and improving)

4. No account required

Tunnelwise does not require you to create an account or submit any personal information to use the app.

We don't collect names, email addresses, payment data, or any identifiers unless you contact us directly (e.g., via support).

5. Optional communications

If you contact us (for example, via support@tunnelwise.com), we may store your message and email address to provide a response and maintain records of support history. We will never sell or share this information with third parties.

6. Data security

All tunnels are created using secure and encrypted transport. Tunnelwise takes reasonable measures to protect all infrastructure from unauthorized access or misuse. However, as with any software that exposes local services to the internet, it is your responsibility to secure your local systems.

We encourage users to follow best practices when exposing services through tunnels, such as authentication, rate limiting, and endpoint restrictions.

7. Third-party services

Tunnelwise does not rely on third-party analytics platforms, advertising networks, or trackers. All statistical processing happens server-side, in aggregate, and without cookies or external services.

8. Changes to this policy

If we ever need to change this Privacy Policy in the future, we'll post the updated version at https://tunnelwise.com/privacy and include a clear changelog. If changes are significant, we'll make reasonable efforts to notify users in advance.
